Dyeing to get started

Many hands make light work

Trial run
Saturday 7th February was the first meeting of the Southern Group, and coincidentally, the birthday of one of its members, which meant that we had birthday cake.
We were a varied lot with individual approaches to dyeing. These ranged from the exact: “ Did you say 50 mls? This syringe has 51 mls in it”. To the excessively creative: “I think it needs another few dollops of green”.
The weather was extremely cold and the dyeing took place in an outhouse, which could not be described as draught proof.
We overcame this disadvantage by rotating the two members overseeing the yarn in the dye vats (2 buckets and a pan) to coincide with rescuing our colleagues minutes before they developed hypothermia.
The day was a success – lots of dyed fibre, lots of laughter - and cake – But, don’t mention purple!!
